Revision of the Devonian acritarch genus <i>Pyloferites</i> Quadros 1999 based on palynomorph assemblages from Brazil

A large population of the acritarch genus Pyloferites Quadros 1999 was recovered from Devonian strata Paraná Basin, Alto Garças Sub-basin (Brazil), at Jaciara section. Based on a literature review and examination new material, including morphometric analyses, shows wide morphological variability, and, therefore, is herein emended. Additionally, species emendation are instituted: escobaides (Cramer 1964) Daners et al. 2017 emend. nov., paranaensis sp. nov. The stratigraphical distribution P. extended middle–late Pragian to Famennian, while paranaeinsis restricted early Emsian, or possibly middle Basin. presence in Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Spain supports Gondwanan Perigondwanan palaeobiogeographical distribution.
